Default Rubicon & Firewood Cutting

Back in my senior year of high school I built a Narrow ATV trailer that could navigate most ATV trails to pack out Game, Today 12 years later it did just as well packing out firewood at my new home, the land is so steep even my 4x4 john Deere 855 cannot get to the bottom, but the Rubicon packed out two 50' alter trees in one load! To bad i didn't think about taking a photo until I had already made it to the house, but you get the picture- and yes those trailer tires are aired up to 30psi, note the second hitch on the trailer- yup i pull doubbles in non-steep areas. low range rocks!

Rubicons are exceptionally well suited for that kind of work.

Nice job on fabbing the trailer. I'm a great carpenter but not metal worker. I bought a trailer for grabbing firewood out of VT and it sure beats pushing a wheelbarrow around. I can't get my GMC Crew cab into these areas and am always amazed at what a good quad can do. Almost makes getting wood fun... Almost...

your right, it does almost make it fun I have always thought about replaceing those tiny tires with larger ones but they are so narrow they fit threw areas where larger ones wont- even when it sinks to the axle in the soft the rubicon has enough power to pull it threw. The only negitave is a soft wet lawn when i back it onto the back portch.

That's why I slowly saved up the money to finally get a ATV trailer with wide tires. My old Sears Crapsman trailer had the narrow wheelbarrow tires and dug in when the lawn was wet. I've got a Polaris Sportsman X2 that has an electronic controlled rear Spicer differential. It allows you to run with just one tire providing power. Alot better than my older quads with locked 2wd rears. Doesn't dig up the grass nearly as much.
