My friend just bought a 88 250x, it has a cam a high compression piston, k&n filter, FMF full system holeshot fronts and turftamer rears. and a 38mm carb.
He was braggin on how he was going to roost me on my 99 300ex with a K&n filter and jet kit and a Full RCM header and silencer and ohtsus m/r rears. but when we went ridin He was the one who got roosted. BIG TIME THE 300ex is DEFINENTLY THE WAY TO GO!!!!!!!!

I found 2 87 250X's, 3 92 250X's, and 1 91 250X in the classifieds! I think I might go with a 250X!

If you can find a 250X no matter what year in almost perfect condition like I did, I suggest you buy it. I bought an '87 that still had the original chain & sprokets on it, it still has the original tires too. There's a small chip out of the plastic but it's not noticable unless you already know it's there. I practicaly stole it for $1,600

If your only 10 and should not go with the 300ex then don't get a 250x, they are basically the same machine. The electric start on the 250ex will be easier for you also and will be less upkeep being that its brand new.

All the 250X's I found were around that price but the one that costs the most is a 92 ($2600).

2600 sounds a little steep, i'd go look at it and then hagle with the guy and try to get him down at least a coupple hundred

Like the saying goes "cash talks and b.s. walks" go over there with $1800 in hand and say take it or leave it and I bet anything they will take it. I hope it still is in real good condition for $1,800. If there asking $2,600 they may neither know what there talking about, which you can them b.s. em with a bunch of technical terms and get the price down or there is a really good market for 250x's in your area. In that case, can you sell my modded out 250x for $3,000 over there? Haha

Meant to say "If there asking $2,600 they may NOT either know what there talking about...."
