YZGUY-I am really glad I bought my 300ex after reading your post. I was going to hold out for the 250ex. I owned a Recon last summer, but I was having problems with the front rebounding to easy, making the front end sloppy. I was knocked off several times. Now it sounds like the 250ex has the same problems. I am thrilled with the 300ex, and not had one problem with the suspension. First time I rode it down the road, I knew I had made the right decision. Thanks again.

Alright, I think that I'm gonna go for the 300. The bigger engine and longer shock travel won me over. I still have one concern though, I was on Honda's site and saw that the 300EX is heavier than the 400EX and the 250EX. Why is it heavier, and does it cause any problems, in the air or on the ground? I've heard that the 300 also has almost the same amount of power as the 250, but not as much bottom end as the 250, is this right?

lilred300ex-I think you definitely made the right decision. Always pick suspension over ANYTHING else when buying a bike!! I took the 300 on a 50 mile desert XC ride yesterday. Everybody said this was the roughest ride they had been on (with rocks, open mine shafts, and the whole bit). People think of desert rides as just flying down wide-open roads and washes. Well, this was a full on trail ride and I was glad to be on the nimble little 300. Two little girls age 10 and 7 did the ride on their Honda 90's-you go girl!!!

Anyway, I got the 300 for my daughter, but she isn't quite able to handle a clutch yet. She's big, but is still only 10 yrs. old, so we got the 250 to hold her over for a while. My son is 7 so he can have it when she is done. Meanwhile, my girlfriend has taken to the 300, so I think they'll be fighting over the bike someday.

The 400 is a newer design, and they made some efforts to keep the weight down. A lot of parts on the 300 that are steel, are aluminum on the 400 (like the swingarm). The 300 doesn't handle like it's heavy at all, and it can fly with the best of them! Our 300 is piped, and I can't remember how it was stock, but it has plenty of low, middle, and high end power. For overall power, it's way ahead of the 250 in every way. Remember, the 250 has a centrifugal clutch. This is a great feature for beginners or on a utility, but you have to get that thing to kick in before you get any power to the wheels-that means a pretty hefty power loss!

I'm 10 years old and love to race and get big air. I know how to use a clutch. Which one do you think is better for me?

BornToRace-You didn't say how tall/heavy you are. My daughter is 10 yrs. old too, but she is 5'3" and 150 lbs., so she is already bigger than most small adults. If you can handle it, get something you can grow into. The 250 is a peppy little bike, but if you're small and want to jump and stuff, take a look at the Blaster.

Alright, in response to the person who asked who was buying this quad for me, I'm the one buying. I have to sell my Recon, and work all summer to make up the difference. I'm almost 16 years old now, there's not alot of toy's my parents will buy me now. Buy the way, I'm getting the 300EX instead of the 250, I found that it fit my needs to jump alot better than the 250.

BornToRace-You would probably find the 300EX to be a little much for you at your size and weight. The 250EX or a Blaster, would hold you over for a few years. The Blaster is certainly a hotter bike than the 250, but I haven't been impressed with the durability of the Blaster. We have one, and it's always down for some kind of repair. But then again, it gets ridden really hard!
