Default 400ex starter spinning direction

Hi everyone. I have a 2000 400ex that I am rebuilding. Well i got everything pretty much done and pressed the start button to see if she would start. The starter spun, but I think it's spinning the wrong direction. I hooked it straight to the battery, bypassing the solenoid/starter relay, and the same thing happened. I took the starter apart, and everything seems fine except that there's a little black plastic piece that connects to the stud that the cable connects to that seems to shield electricity from jumping to the brush thats not connected to the stud. It only has one cable hooked to it, so it seems as if it could only spin one direction. The little gear/spline or whatever that's coming out of my starter spins counter-clockwise when looking at the left side of the quad. If anyone knows which direction it's supposed to spin, I would REALLY appreciate knowing also. If no one knows, and would be willing to take their starter gearbox cover off and see which direction it spins, I would be happy to pay for a new gasket for the cover for whoever does it. It should be no more than US$5 from your local shop. If you plan on pulling yours apart, please put a post so I don't have 1,000,000 pulling theirs off too, and asking me for money. I would need proof that you actually pulled yours apart also. I know this is a crazy request, but I am desperate. Thanks in advance for any and all that can help!

The starter should spin the opposite direction of the engine .
