I am getting ready to get a big bore for my R and the CT Racing complete power package looks like a very good bargain. The 310 is appealing because I can do all the work and do not have to machine my cases. Some people (local engine builders) are telling me the 310 is a waste of money and I will be dissappointed with it. What does everybody with some experience in this area think. Also I will not run race gas, only premium. The new powervalved Pro-X cylinder really has me excited, but I cannot find any information on how they run. Same goes for the FMF kit that is supposed to be available. Thanks for the help.

Big bores can be fast if you buy them from the right place. I know from experience(I bought one)and other people that CT's arent ported right. Allen will tell you its "ported".Actually its ported to stock specs and will put out 45hp(310),and that was with high 210lbs compression.I would love to beat all the money I wasted on race fuel out of Allens head on that slow motor!

A properly set up 250-270 can put out over 60hp.I had a 310 and am going back to a 270 when the powervalve jugs come out.

Its all in the porting, not the cc's. Macdizzy,LRD or some of the small no name shops can do the job right, keep asking around.

Thanks for your input. Maybe that is why CT's kit is so much less expensive than the others. I thought I would get a lot more responses, all the 250R guys must be out riding, which is where I am headed now. Later.

I agree...a good 270 is hard to beat, especially if you are under 200-220 lbs.

i'd say 250R cuz that should be able to smoke a 350EX easily. and thats just a stock 250r. get it piped and ported and it will really blow them away.

my friend got his engine done up to a 397! hasn't EVER been beat! one of only 3 engines ever made. Although it does burn alcohol... The only time that one of the engines has been beat was by a Suzuki Triple Cylinder 2 stroke! and it wasn't beat by much! He had it dynoed and it peaked at 88hp!!!

as for large bore they should have lots of low end torque but ushaly do not rev quick -don't have topend like a smaller (lighter) pistoned engine. what kind of power are you looking for? were do you ride (dunes, drag, woods/xc, MX, desert)? that can help a lot so i can suggest what i would suggest (or i would do).

I ride everywhere, and I mean every where. I am in the Army and have eaten dirt in PA, NY, OH, WA, OR, ID, LA, TX, AZ, CA, and NM. I ride all different types of terrain, but I preferr a motocross type powerband. I love What the FMF Fatty has done for my machine. My machine will have some aftermarket shocks to go with my +2 a-arms by August. I haven't decided on which arms or whoes shocks to go with yet. The power on the R is very good, I just want more. I really want to know how the FMF power up kit is going to run. Any help here is appreciated. Also, anybody wanting to go to Glamis or Buttercup for Easter, let me know, I will be going.
