Default Viper Winch Questions

I just finished installing a Viper winch with synthetic rope. Couple of questions.

1. How do you install a winch stopper? Do you have to take entire rope off spool and attach it and then reload it?

2. Anyone have any issues with winch negative hitting frame and sparking when lifting a plow? I just mounted mine and notice if I left the plow completely up sometimes it will hit the frame and spark. I'm going to look it over tomorrow and see what I can do.

Thanks
Terry

The negitive shouldn't spark unless it loose, more than likely if you got sparking its a wire with positive current. . .

It's the black wire on the winch and when the plow is raised quickly all the way the connector hits the frame. I know the issue is the wire connector making contact with the front harness. I'm hoping I can loosen the winch mounting bolts or harness and get it to move an 1/8 of an inch to prevent it from contacting it.

This is my first ATV also BlueRubie. Have spent this week after work installing a plow and winch. Just about done but it's been time consuming. Few minotr kinks to work out but it's all done currently. Thanks for your feedback.

I feel kind of stupid on the winch stopper. I was able to take the hook off and push the connector thru the winch stopper with a little muscle. It's on. Now I just need to get my contactor to not make contact with the harness. Time for bed and start fresh tomorrow. Later Blue Rubie

BlueRubie I put a rubber end cap on the bolt and it solved the problem. Before I found the plastic boot in my barn I tried putting a piece of radiatotor hose over it and sliced my finger good but I finished her up. It's working perfect now.
