This is an switch with 2 wires. It is under the left brake lever. The plastic part that the reverse cable hooks to activates this switch when you push the button in and pull the lever . Thanks.

Are you in Canada .. ? .. That sounds like the brake light kits we had to put on Hondas between about 2000 & 2003 ... does your bike have aftermarket brake lights , the 450 used a single square light on the right side of the trunk...

No, I'm from Texas. I looked at a wiring diagram that HondaMechanic has on here. I think it is the reverse shift switch that grounds to the ECU when the reverse cable is pulled. I'm guessing it completes the circuit to allow the electric shift go into reverse. Thanks for the help and all the replies. Have a nice day.
The reason for all the questions was my neighbor was replacing the bracket on the left brake lever. He mistakenly ask for the part for a 2001 and his is a 2000 model. The new bracket has no mounting holes for the switch and we thought it might be a brake light switch that we could leave off. Thanks again.
