Thiner oil for the winter???

This is a common misconception, and is completely incorrect!!!
If you look at an oil data chart, the Viscosity at 40 degrees C (cSt), is the best indication of how viscous an oil will be on a cold start! For example, for the Redline oil I run, the 10W30 has a cSt of 70, and the 10W40 is 93! That is a significant difference of 23!
