Default Honda Fluids? Questions.

We are working on a 1986 honda trx350 fourtrax 4x4 and was needing to know what type of oil to run in it and what type of fluid to use in the front and rear differential, or any other fluids that this atv might need. Its been sittin a few years and its now running and we would like to freshen up all the fluids that the bike needs. Thank you for any ideas.

Default Honda Fluids? Questions.

for oil run a 10w-40, something made for atv's or motorcycles. it will have a JASMO rateing on the bottel! do not use car oil, the friction modifiers in it will damage the wet clutch. I recomend Mobile1 R4 for motorcycles, its a good synthetic you can pick up at many autoparts stores, it really is worth the extra money!

for gear oil a Hypoid 80w is recomended. its really helpful to get a foot or so of flexible hose to put on the bottle, when you try and pour it into the diff's.

for other easy things to mantain; clean air filter, change oil filter, adjust valves, check bearings, and run some Sea-foam cleaner through it. a bottle is about $7 at menards or a walmart sometimes. worth it also. good luck!

JASO rating MA is what you want for wet clutch applications...

Default Honda Fluids? Questions.

Thanks for all the tips. If i was to just get this bike fresh fluids and sell it, is their any cheaper alternatives for fluids or are these all there is to offer? Where im at its a little hard to get to an atv dealer often. Also any ideas where i can find an aftermarket fuel pump for this thing? It may also soon need replaced. Thanks again

To keep things simple, just get some Honda GN4 oil for the engine (10W30 for colder weather), and some Honda shaft drive oil for the diff and rear end.
