Default Honda Foreman 400 front alignment

I have a 1997 Foreman 400 1997.

When viewed from the front, the left front wheel/tire appears to be canted in at the top, the right tire appears to be vertical or nearly so. The right tire also appears to be vertical in relation to the rear tire. The left tire appears to be canted in, in relation to the left rear tire. I put a 3 ft level up against the right tire, and the level confirms that the right tire is near vertical, the level confirms the right tire is canted in from top to bottom.

I tried adjusting the tie rods which seem to adjust the "toe in" of the tires, but the tie rods do not seem to adjust the top to bottom angle.

Is it critical to have this cant adjusted? Any ideas on how to adjust it?

Thanks in advance for your help.

You can't adjust it ... I would look around the frame mounts for the " A " arms to see if there is any cracks in the paint ..

Yes, also check the frame around where the control arms mount for cracked paint, welds or bowed frame.
Do what they call a wheel to wheel. Jack up the front of the quad, grab the top and bottom of the wheel and move them in and out. Watch the ball joints for abnormal movement. You may have one worn. They should not move. Also this is a good test for front wheel bearings. No ball joint movement noted anf the wheel moves in and out at the top, wheel bearing may be bad. A very small amount of movement should noted as normal wear and a good bearing. Should be able to compare sides for movement.
If frame, ball joint and wheel bearing check out, note the position of the upper ball joint to the bottom one. Comparing both sides, if one upper is ahead of the lower joint then you definately have a bent/stressed upper control arm. I don't see this a bunch on 400 or 450 Foreman, but Rubicons that pitsh and dive with real twitchy steering, I have found the upper a-arm moved foreward. Most likely from hitting something hard (Rock, pothole etc...) which makes them move foreward. Upper control arm needs replacement in this case. Normally don't see bent lowers unless in a severe impact. If you ride the quad and find it turns one way with minimal effort (wants to take the steering out of your hand with the slightest of movement) The caster on that wheel is bad from the above mentioned.
With the unit jacked up, sheck for a bent shock shaft and also view the front wheels if they are tipped in at the top with no weight on the front suspention. They should be the same. If they are the same when jacked up, you have a weak shock spring or blown out shock on one side which makes it hang on one corner when setting on all 4 wheels.

This info should help you out some

SO I am wondering what you found when checking your wheeler - I have a 2005 Foreman and noticed about a month back when looking at the front of my wheeler that the top of my left hand front wheel, was in farther then the bottom. never noticed anything when driving it but now i am also wondering if there is a way to draw the bottom of the wheel in - is it different for the 2005 then the 1997 Foremen's - can I adjust the top out on the 2005 Foreman?

BUMP,, This is the same crooked wheel problem I have. Front right wheel is vertical like |,, left wheel like this\ so my front wheels look like this |--\.
,,
No cracked paint on the frame or weld joints,, no wheel movement checking the ball joints,, no visible damaged and I have replaced the lower control arm,,still crooked wheel. No bent shock everything looks straight,,, has to be bent u-joint?

After searching and seeing other Honda 4 wheel drives ,looks to me like this is a pretty common problem with these Quads ,, I have been trying to figure this out for a year,, My Quad is a 04 Foreman 450.

Help Gimpster!!

Ok I hate to bump this again,, but I still cant find the problem,, this isnt a huge problem but still an annoying one at that.
I'm starting to think about unloading this thing and get something else.
Check your front wheels everybody ,,see if yours are straight.
