i have a 2000 400ex and i use a white brothers header pipe and full exhaust. i had a cobra exhaust system,it was loud but didnt help out with power when i put it on the dyno.the white brothers full exhaust added 2 hp on the dyno and is very loud, throaty.just make sure you do your intake and rejet your carb or it wont do anything but be loud and run like crap....

Good luck finding a White Brothers exhaust. They are no longer in business. They were bought out.
I added a HMF Sport Series slip on to my wife's 400ex and it made a big difference in power so I imagine the full system would be even better. You can get them from motosport.com or rockymountainatv.com

Less Sound = More Ground!

Loud and obnoxious will just serve to get us kicked out of even more places than we have been kicked out of already!

FMF PowerBomb Header/Q Muffler. EHS Racing airbox lid with Outerwears and a UNI foam air filter. And of course a rejet.

As long as you follow local sound regulations you should be fine. Previous years it was 101db in Co but now they are lowering it to 98db. 93 is stock usually.

i live in tennessee and we have 4 mountains in a 30 mile area,we are allowed to run anything you want. so i guess your right ranger about the sound in certain places,im not gonna ride somewhere where somebody tells me that i cant ride because of the way my atv sounds, ridiculous. but if you want power and sound, get you a white bros full exhaust system cheeler..............

Yoshimura! I know it's pricey but you def get what u pay for. I've seen firsthand a lot of the pipes that are solid mounted to the frame (welded bracket on the pipe bolted to the frame) end up cracking and breaking at some point. The Yoshi pipe is isolated with a rubber lined clamp and has some movement, quality is superb, and sound the best out of all pipes IMO. HMF's are eh... Everyone has one, and they are extremely loud. Unless you get a massive boost in power all that noise is useless. The exhaust is not where you want to be a penny pincher.
