Too much fuel!!
#1
Not my bike, but it's in my garage!!
After a long drive the air box is filling up with fuel, stalls and very, very, very hard to re-start.
Has not been used much lately, just quick trips back to his deer stand.
Last night I checked for vacuum leaks and cleaned out carburator with spray, replaced plug (was new last year). Choke appears to be working fine.
Any ideas?
p.s. I have no manual also. Is there a PDF one or online access to one?

I was thinking that maybe an intake valve is open during the compression cycle, and blowing back into the airbox.....
More likely, the vent on the float bowl is clogged, and or the float is stuck or needs adjustment. Rather than dumping extra fuel out the overflow, it has nowhere to go but back up into the carb. This can be serious if the extra gas goes into the combustion chamber and past the rings and into the oil. It will dilute the oil out and make it useless!
There is a drain screw at the bottom of the bowl. Open it and see if gas flows freely or not. If it just keeps on flowing, then the float needle may be stuck open or the float needs adjustment.

If you open the drain on the bottom of the bowl, the gas better keep flowing through the needle..........it's what keeps the carb full of gas.

My mistake....I meant something else, and was in a hurry and said it all wrong!
My suspicion is that the overflow tube is clogged (mud or dirt or something) and/or the float is out of adjustment and/or the needle stuck open (happened to me several times with this carb)....so excess fuel backs up into the carb. Every time you hit a bump, it jars the float up and down and can give you more fuel than the bowl needs, so any excess just goes out the overflow....even when the float if properly adjusted and/or the needle is working perfectly.
So, what I wanted him to do is turn the fuel valve on and see if there was any overflow out the vent line. This would diagnose a poorly adjusted float or a stuck needle, but....if the vent is clogged, that still doesn't help with that. Maybe bounce the quad up and down an bunch of times (to get the float bouncing up and down). And, check all the lines to see that they are not clogged.

Never got it out Friday night, he wimped out.
But did break a lower control arm on the Polaris Scrambler (stump), electric shift froze on the 2006 Rancher and my (BF650i) battery shorted out.
All in all, a good night....
