Default Honda mechanic help!!! plz

Hi, i have a 2004 Rancher 350 manual shift, the problem i have is a total loss of electrics, when u turn on the ignition key there is no dash display, no lights, horn etc, it is completely dead, the battery is a year old reading 12.5 volts, you can start bike by recoil and the dash comes on, the lights and all electrics come on when it's running but as u apply throttle the lights dim and then go out the higher you rev and the display does the same, with the ignition key off the battery reads 12.5 volts but as soon as u turn the ignition on the voltage drops too 2.5 volts, i have tried a new regulator with no luck, could it be lack of amps in the battery?, plz plz help me!. thankyou. Steven

Yes it sounds like the battery is bad , or the battery connections are bad .. I would have the battery load tested ..

thanks, turns out the bike has been overcharging and dried up the battery cells, although there was 13volts at battery it was no good, new regulator and battery should hopefully do it!, thanks again.
