Default Where to connect power for Warn winch

I have installed a Warn RT 25 on my 2008 TRX420FM, and am trying to figure out the best place to connect the power wire from the handlebar switch. Can anyone who has done this tell me where theirs is connected?

Thanks in advance

You need to find key switch power or your winch will operate w/ the key off. I've installed quite a few winches and the easiest place on a Honda is to tap into the pink wire coming from the ignition switch. Follow the wires down from the ignition switch to a place that's easy to access, about 6 inches from the switch. Once you cut open the black tubing around the wires you'll see 4 wires. Peel back the insulation on the pink wire and solder the red wire from the winch. Do not, unless absolutely necessary, use the blue scotch-lock connector that came w/ the winch. Yes they are easy and quick but I have seen many electrical issues caused by these POS things. Do yourself a favor and solder the wires together or find someone who can do it for you.

Weekend warrior, I'm sure on the honda but AC has an accessory plug in the front of the machine directly below the steering pod. I did an older Polaris and had to run a wire to the fuse box where they had a fuse for accessories. Hope this helps.

Yep the pink wire is the one I used for the thumb switch.

Yeah, The hardest part of installing a winch is finding power. the rest is pretty easy and 2 1/2 hrs the most of your time to do the job right.

Personally, I like to tap the accessory socket wire. It's fused, and non-critical (should the switch or something short out).

On the Rancher the accessory socket is an option, but there is a plug for it under the right fender.

Also, I'd suggest using solder and heat shrink tubing over the little plastic snap on tap, so you would get a connection that would never corrode or pull apart.
