Default 94' 300ex hard to start.

Okay, so I have owned this bike now for 6 months. The problem with it is that it will not start using the electric start. It will just turn over and over with out starting. It's getting fuel and spark. But here's the kicker- It will start if you push start it in 2nd and pop the clutch. I have replace the cdi box and put a new coil on it. Any ideas? Once you get it started by push starting it, she runs great and will even restart with the electric start after it has warmed up.

Any help with this matter would be great.

Thanks - Hot Rod

doesn't make a difference. Every now and then it will actually start with the button. but it's rare.

I would check your valves, my son's 300ex was a hard starter, found the intake too tight, reset intake and exhaust, started a lot nicer. You may also want to pull the carb and give it a good cleaning, pay close attention to the pilot jet,it gives you the fuel for starting and idling.

Okay i will check valve clearance That converts to almost .004 inch. I will also be removing the carb today and give it a good cleaning.

Update- I cleaned the carb out. It does push start easier, but will not electric start.

Does anyone know what the compression on this bike is supposed to be? I got 60 psi and I know it should be much higher than that.
