Default Foreman electric shift problems

I have a 07 Foreman ES, and am havin problems with my shifter. I can crank and work it just fine, as long as I dont apply the brakes, lever or foot brake. When I apply any brake, my gear position on the display blinks, and my shift buttons do nothing. I have to turn my fourwheeler off and back on to reset the cycle.
Has aybody had any problems with this or have any idea what the problem is. I called my dealer and he suggested a short in the brake light wire or battery problem.

No, he just told me that it could be a battery problem, short in my brake wiring, or a charging problem. He said nothing about the flashes. I believe it was flashing two times, lines then numbers. It only happens when I apply the brakes, then it begins flashing.
