Need some help.

I'm not getting any spark when cranking motor over with ele. or rope starter.
When I release starter button it will fire and I can get it to run and it runs
like it should after getting it to start. It has never been in deep water.

I checked all the fues's I could find, all where good. From reading on line
it could be CDI or Rectifier. All the post I found, which where very few.
Poster's never followed up on thread to say if they solved the problem.

i have a 99 trx400 w/ the same problem in regards to the starter button. i can get it started by hitting the starter button and releasing it as i pull the rope. then the engine runs fine at idle but as soon as rpms get above high idle it dies as if the ingnition got turned off. sorry 4 not answering your ??, but maybe somebody will read this and help us both out. i need mine 4 ranch work + so if no response soon it goes to the shop. yuk! i'll let u know what i find out if it does go to the expensive place. good luck w/yours.--AV
