Default Does 2005 450r front shocks fit on 2002 400ex

I can get a pair of 450 r front shocks. Do they fit on my 400 ex? Any modification needed?

yes they will fit. theres a write up on here somewhere on the swap. they are kinda stiff though. would only do it if your doing big jumps and bottoming the stock ones

I just recently put 2004 450r front shocks on my 05 400ex. they do fit however you need to knock the spot welded nut from the upper front shock mounts. then the 450r shock eyes hit on top because they are a little wider. you can custom cut the shock mount without weakening the integrity of the mount, or you could grind the shock eye which i wouldnt recommend. the first generation 400ex's and the 2nd generation 400ex's plastics are interchangable with slight modifcations, so the 450r shocks should fit. people might come on telling you that 450r shocks arent much better than stock 400ex shocks. i found that jumping the 400ex over small and medium jumps its much smoother. you do gain .2" of travel which isnt much.. however trail riding they feel about the same as stock boingers. you could spend a bunch of $$$$ and have the R shocks revalved and have triple rate springs put on. EBAY also has a triple rate spring kit for the R shocks. if you want the best bang for your buck buy some YFZ 450 shocks. they respond to adjustments much better than the R shocks and usually are cheaper. you will not be disappointed with the R shocks. dont change the rear 400ex shock with the R rear shock because it actually rides worse. i hope this helps

the 04-05's arent that stiff. if you get the 06 and up they are VERY stiff

thanks for the help. cool that they will fit i just bought them on ebay but have not received them yet. my 400ex shocks are shot. Which i think the shocks helped ruin my bearing and the bushing in my steering shaft. which i also have on order. $$$$$$$$$$$
