cold start up
#12
If you aren't planning mods, you could probably improve cold weather starting by bumping up idle mixture slightly, and maybe shim the needle up.
Also, if it is unusually cold blooded, disconnect the carb heater and take an ohm meter reading on the heater side (should be a handful of ohms), and check for voltage on the harness side when the key is on.
Actually, on that topic, when it is being cold blooded, are you waiting a few seconds between turning the ignition switch on and cranking? Are you using the primer ****?
Another thing that sometimes causes cold blooded/starting issues is not having the friction set high enough on the choke ****, so that it doesn't stay all the way out, or vibrates it's way in...

You turn the round housing for the choke **** to adjust friction.
Initial oil change and valve adjustment I believe is supposed to be at 20 hours, then every 100 hours after that.
Getting a factory service manual is something I always recommend for anyone who plans to keep a machine long term.
