atv for 16 yr old
Hi, we just bought a 04 foreman for ourselves and are wanting to get another atv for our son. Went to the honda place today and we can get a 07 rubicon (sp) brand new for $2800. Would a 250 be enough power? We will be doing mostly trail riding and with some mud/water holes. Thanks so much for your help!

As long as he or she can operate the controls Completly without over reaching, then its proper size.
As for engine CC, well thats up to skill level.
I would start with atleast a 250 If your sure he or she can control it. Most Mid level ATV's have a throttle limiter on the thumb thing.. If it does not have one. Have one installed. and set it accordingly..
Im sure you know already, But please put a helmet and goggles on.

I assume you are refering to the 250EX (now called 250X) or Recon??? These are sweet little machines, if he is not to big. Lots of utility type folks pass up the EX, but it is basically a Recon in sport plastic, and a hefty 50 pounds lighter so it handles that much better!
If you want to go pure sport in the 250 class, the new Raptor 250 is the way to go.
If those are to small, the next step up would be the Rancher lineup on the ute side, or the 300 or 400EX if going sport quad.

Honda forman 450 or trx450. My two fav bikes.
At his size a 400 will be to mutch of a sissy bike to haul him around. Especially if he wants to take out his girlfriends.
Just make the decision based on the types of trails you ride.
If hes going to have passengers, get the utility bike or a sport utility.
A pure sport bike is no fun with someone hanging off the back.

well I know this wasnt my thread, but I ended up buying a 98 Honda TRX90 for my 11 year old son. Its used, didn't cost a whole lot, and when he grows out of it, his little sister will start riding it.
After that, I will probably sell it myself.
Now, off to find the wife a bike. Then a toy hauler!! lol, if only I could afford one
