Default Clutch adjustment nut stripped? Oops!

Wonder if anyone knows what I might have to do to fix my 86 TRX250 fourtrax clutch adjustment nut? This TRX is pretty rough...I've brought it back from the dead! I tried to adjust the clutch adjustment on the right side of the crankcase but it appears that the little Locknut is stripped and won't tighten. Do you have to take the right crankcase side cover off to fix this?

Is that a left hand thread? My 86 200sx is.

Hmmm? You know, I'm not sure! I thought it was a standard right hand thread...guess I'll have to see if it says anything in the manual. It didn't mention left hand thread though in the clutch adjustment section.
