Default Rancher 420 owners I have a question

I own a 2007 Rancher 420 and i love it, it might be the best machine i have been on, even with a solid rear axle. My question is, my fan seems to be on a lot lately more than last year it seems is this a problem or will they do that. How long are the other Rancher fans on for, its not on nonstop but its on alot about 10, 20 or 30 seconds and off for 1 or 2 minutes and then its back on again. Is this normal, if not what should i do. Thanks for all of your help that everyone has given me in the past.

I would say depending on the type of riding you are doing that that is probably normal. If it needs to come on it will, better than not coming on at all, HUH!
If we are just tooling around the trails on a hot day ours runs quite abit. If running down the road it doesn't come on hardly at all. I have notice ours doesn't seem to run as much since we switched to syn oils.

It might be a good idea to flush out the radiator fins from behind. It doesn't take much of a coat of mud, or weed seeds or other debris, to really reduce their cooling.

I'd also check the coolant level, and oil level.

On Rincons, they tend to build up gunk between the oil cooler and radiator, so you remove one of the side shrouds so you can spray that stuff out, and also you can then reach in with a hose nozzle to spray out the radiator from behind.

The fan on Rincons, and Foremans rarely comes on. Don't really recall on the 420 Ranchers I've been around.

There is a screen in front of the radiator, and mine gets clogged (keeps stuff out of the radiator). Is it clean?

Ambient air temp and how fast you are going plays a big part on how often your fan come on. If you are moving slow and it's hot, it'll come on more often until it reaches the set temp to go off. You want it to come as much as it needs to so the engine stays cool.
