Default 05 400ex brake light!?!?!?

Hey, i have a 2005 400ex. had some work done to the motor and when it came out of the shop and i rode it at night i noticed that the brake light doesn't come on when you hit the brakes. the light works when you turn your light on but just doesn't react or light up when you hit the brakes. anyone know how to fix it? thanks

after i put the question on here i was messin with it and found that a spring or cable is missing from the black piece that is wired directly to the back taillight. it is like right behind where all the stuff is by the lever for the back brake. there is a little hole where a cable or somethin should be, so to try it i turned the power on and the lights and the backlight came on like usual, so i stuck a piece line in the whole and pulled it like the spring or whatever normally would and the brake like came on. so i figures out what the problem is but can't find where i would hook somethin up to. and even if i did, i can't figure out how to get the front to work.... that was kind of confusing but i don't know. i'll figure somethin out i guess. try that same think with yours and see if that piece still works and if your just missin the cable or spring or whatever the hell it is.

from the rear of the pedal there should be a little spring that runs up to the switch. I shouldn't say little, it's small in diameter but about 2 inches long
