Default 250r reliability

I've been looking to get a 250r for awhile. but are they reliabile? alot of maintenance? how fast are they? i found a nice 86 or 87 in very nice shape, has procircuit pipe, and fmf silencer, asking $2650. is this a resonable price?

its a honda of course its reliable lol, with basic maintenance and care they will last a good while, and those bikes are very quick and handle awesome, one of the funnest atvs to ride imo, if you find a decent one for a good price dont pass it up.

i usually dont see them go for under $2000 unless there just completely ragged out, if the one your looking at is nice looking and runs good, and has a few aftermarket things on it then id say 2650 is ok, if it were me i would try to walk out with it for $2500, if you had pics i could better judge.

You can't get a crate engine from Honda anymore, so to me that is a big minus.

Honda or not it is a 20+ year old performance 2 stroke. Depending on how it was taken care of it will need parts replaced. On the other hand, they are fast, fun, and generally cheap to rebuild. Aftermarket parts will be available virtually forever. It is getting pretty rare to see these at the races anymore since everyone is switching to 450s(for good reason) so it is fairly common to see clean, built up units hit the market. since you have been wanting one for a while, i would buy one provided you have the funds. They aren't going to lose any resale if you decide it isn't the way you want to go later on.

They will use more gas than a 4 stroke, fuel mix is 32:1
