Default 1990 300 fourtax brakes

I have a 1990 fourtrax with nonworking brakes. I want the most economical fix. What parts do I need to repair the drum brakes? Should I convert to disc brakes?

Since nobody else decided to help ya, I can try, I have a 1998 honda 300 with drum brakes, and chances are, all you need is brakeshoes. They can vary in cost.. from what I remember, they're about 20-30 $ a wheel. As for making your own brakeshoes I dont recommend it.. and for disk brakes, They wear out about 4 times faster then drum brakes.

Sorry I didn't see this post. You didn't say if it's the front or back brakes. If the front and they are hydraulic, it could be old bad fluid. I had a bike once that the fluid turned into what resembled oatmeal. Or, like fourtraxhonda300 said, shoes. Or it could be springs or anything else that is inside the drum. I wouldn't try to convert to disks. That would be a lot of effort.
