Honda 300 quits in water above foot pegs.. PLEASE HELP
Well.. My 1998 honda 300 which I bought in 2006 and overhauled, rebuilt the rearend, front end.. Ect, quits when I get in water above the footpegs.... Which is very embarressing infront of my beer-fueled buddies who laugh at me.. Can somebody tell me what is getting wet to make it quit? and can I just silicone it? (Also, if anyone has suggestions, I have two 100 wat fog lights for headlights, Which the old 300's charging system doesent like so well.. (I often end up with a dead battery, and having somebody push my fourwheeler down a hill to start it (Not easy on a honda.. :P) What is the correct watt headlights for it? and I have a set off of a kawasaki Buyou if they will work.. Thanks for your help! =D

No, It completely dies, but after I pull it out of the hole, it starts right back.. And the guy who owned it befor me, did nothing but ride it in creeks? He said it never quit on him.. and as for the plug wire, theres no way it can be underwater.. The fourwheeler literally quits, as soon as water gets above the framerails/footpeg Is there some kind of electric wire on the bottom of the motor that could be shorting out???
All I do, is ease it down in a mudhole, and it quits dead..

I fixed the 300! It dont quit now! =d
I found a small wire plug in on the bottom of my motor, just above the footpegs (like I said, it quits when you go in water deeper then the footpegs) Well, I had a spare 300 motor laying around, and it had a plug in with good rubber on it, the one on the fourwheeler was just a naked plug in (rubber was off and gone? ) Well, I coated the whole thing with dielectric grease, plugged it in, and my reverse light promptly came on when it was in neutral.. So I just turned it over, then it seemed to work right. Well, Now I can swamp the old honda, and she wont quit till it gets above the plastic.. =) thanks for the help everybody
