Help me restore my '87 250x!!!
#1
Ok so i bought an old 87 250x as i have stated in other threads. This 4 wheeler has been butchered together i guess you could say. I have already fixed most of the issues, but my main objective is to tear the 4wheeler down and restore it from the ground up. So i need some suggestions on what to do. I was thinking new rims and tires. Lonestar a-arm kit. Some nice shocks. etc. etc. etc. But i am not sure what to do about the engine. The one on it has been messed with and im not too sure i trust it. So either buy another 250 and rebuild it, or a 350 and rebuild it. Which would be a better bang for my buck? And should i rebuild the tranny? I have so many questions. So if you could take a few minuets and introduce me to the big boy world and help me build my 250x. Everything from the a-arms to the swing arm. Tell me what to do. Thanks Ryan.

hi, i too just picked up an old 250x. 87 to be exact. mine was mostly running with a few tlc things.i had to repair some flat tires. powerwash 3" of mud off it. under the mud was a not half bad quad. since i paid only 500 for it how could i go wrong? i drained all fuel/oils before i even drove it. new oil filter, plugs and i also adjusted the waaay loose lifters. i was lucky not bad bearings nothing bent and for the most part runs well. i did drain and replace the rear master cylinder. i got a repair kit from homda today and the brakes now stop on a dime..good luck to ya
