I seems rather odd to spend more for a Honda and then add the additional expense for an extended warranty. I mean after all, "it's a Honda." They aren't supposed to break down are they?
Pardon my attitude and fun with what others say about Honda ATVs. I own a TRX300 myself. Still, I saw no reason to get the extended warranty for my Kawasaki Bayou when I purchased it new back in 1997. Extended warranties are big money makers for both dealers and the manufacturer which is why you often see such a push to sell them. However, while I would probably never purchase such a warranty, I would also never buy an ATV for which the manufacturer (and not the dealer) did not offer one. This should be a red flag to the buyer that the manufacturer does not believe that their product will be likely to remain problem free after the original warranty period.
However, it might be a worthwhile purchase for first-year models like the Rubicon and it's new tranmission design. Still, my decision would probably be to wait a year or two before buying one and make the purchase later (without the extended warranty) once it has a proven track record.
Oh and by the way, my Bayou has yet to fail me or spent a day in the shop.
