Default Reverse on 400ex

I been looking to buy a honda 400ex. I've been looking at the older models and saw that they do not have reverse. Do you think reverse is nessasary. Or do you think that i would be ok without reverse. I ride mostly trails.

If you trail trails you'll eventually need reverse. I thought I would never really need it. But I found out real fast that you definitely need it for trail riding. Other types of non technical riding like sand riding you really don't need it. If you want reverse on a 400EX you need to look at the 2005 and newer models.

Once you have reverse, you'll wonder how you lived without it! Sooo much better.

good question, i own a 03 so i learned to live without. it does come in handy, even if you get stuck, reverse sometimes can save ya. its not the end of the world without it if your getting a good deal. biengs youd need a 05 or newer to get reverse and theyll be a good bit higher in price. ive learned to just clutch it and spin around which is pretty fun but wont work in a tight spot. if money dont matter get one with reverse for sure, but i wouldnt turn down a great deal because of it.

I ride tight woods trails in my local mountains. Mud is rare. I consider reverse a nice luxury, but hardly a necessity.
