Default what happend to the 2 stroke??

I have been wondering lately, why do all the top atv makers no longer make 2-stroke atvs??? Honda used to make the 250r. And Yamaha stopped making the blaster and banshee in 06'. Susuki used to have a whole lineup of 2 stroke atvs. It seems like everyone liked the 2 stroke and now no one makes any more. I have also noticed that honda has stopped with their 2 stroke dirt bikes also.

EPA mostly.....due to emissions.

Two stroke weed trimmers are on the way out also.

Two stroke boat engines are on their way out too. The 2 stroke made a lot of power, but at the cost of reliability. I got sick of rebuilding the top end every year. I would never have another 2 stroke dirt bike or ATV again.

I think their demise started with the dirty cloud they were creating in Yellowstone during the winter from all of the snowmobiles.

They're just pretty dirty.

Theyre gone because the ****** epa keeps putting more regulations on how much engines pollute. My guess is in the next 10 years even most snowmobiles will be 4 strokes. Yamaha still makes banshees but they call it the yfz350 and they only sell them in europe.

Go here and check it out 2010 Yamaha Banshee YFZ350

Problems with pollution and the environment and all that. They are still pretty bad @$$ bikes though, most 250r's and Banshee's will still have no problem leaving new 450's in the dust. I still have one 2-stroke quad but I don't run it too often anymore.

And also, sprayedgt, got a TRX 250r here that is going on 24 years old, still has stock piston and rings in it. Point being (in a non-smart @$$ way), if you take car of your machine, it will take care of you.

I read somewhere that a weedwacker puts out more smog producing emmissions in an hour than a Chevy Tahoe. Popular Mechanics maybe??

My scrambler 400 2 stroke can easily keep up with my friends stock trx 450 for top speed, but the 450 will waste it on the holeshot cuz the scramblers auto. I guess iv never rode a banshee but iv heard theyr insanely fast.
