foreman ?

looking at a 2000 honda foreman 450 4x4 ES. has around 11,000 miles and 2,100 hours.
That seem to me to be a lot of miles. What do you think? I think he said it was a full time 4x4. Really do not need or want the extra expence of the full time 4x4. I have read several post about the ES giving problems. He is asking 1,500 for it. Just did not want to get in over my head. Will the motor starting gett week shortly?
thanks

Not if he is the type who changed his oil regularly, If that motor was in a off/on motor bike 11000 miles would be considered nothing. How is full time 4wd an extra expense? I sold my 2000 es Foreman 3 years ago with 1,500 miles for $5000 Canadian to a friend.
He now has $3000 miles on it and the ES thing never screwed up yet, I think he could sell it for $4000 easily.
I had a 89 350 Big Bear and it had more miles then 11000 (No working odometer) and its still running around to this day.

Where and what kind of riding are you planning to do???? That will help us decide if this machine is apporpriate for you....
Full-time 4X4 is not an "extra expense", in fact you need to spend the money to get a Warn 424 to turn it into a selectable 2wd/4wd....to realize its full potential. If you don't really need 4X4, then look for a less expensive 2wd Rancher or Foreman, even a Recon if you don't mind going small.
As for mileage, I would think you could find lots of machines with fewer miles, in that price range.

i realize there are some machines with this many miles out there but most wheelers with this kinda of miles burn oil and have been abused, its just the way things go with wheelers. i would look for something with less miles.

I had a 300 fourtrax 4x4 and replaced the cv axil. mainly upset because the dealer said it was good to go. after 30 warranty front end noise. just did not like the way a fulltime 4x4 turned.
we do mainly trail tiding. climbing hills. ect. need something for the wife and kids. I have a 94 fourtrax 300.
thanks again

If the oil has been changed regularly, quads can hit 3500 or 4000 hours before needing overhauled. If abused, they can be trashed in a few hundred hours.
How is the condition of the rest of the machine? If it is pristine and tight and/or has a nice winch or other extras, a $1,500 starting price might end up being an OK deal I would think.
