Valve cover has nothing to do with compression.

I agree with Jeffin TD. Check the compression. Now it sounds like valve gear problems.

As much as i dont want to say this you might have bent a valve. i would take out the spark plug and turn it over, if you can keep your finger covering the hole with air blowing out of the carb on the compression stroke, then your cam timing is WAYoff and like i said you MIGHT have bent a valve. let us know how it turns out tomarrow.

i put my finger on the spark plug hole and pushed start i could feel the pressure but i could keep my finger on it i checked the timing again it was a hair off so maybe its a bent valve im going to swap the top end with the other one i got see if that helps could my rings on the piston be gone?

i turned the piston around there were little marks on the top of it where the valves hit it so im guessing i did bend one or two plus the oil on top of the piston must of come thru the top there was a little gap when i looked under at the valves so i think thats where it leaked thru i put my other top end on and its still the same i can keep my finger over the hole when i try and turn it over the timings on perfect does that mean these valves are bent too?

Do a compression test and get back to us. A REAL compression test with a gauge.
