i was just wondering if anyone knew if a Jeep wrangler with a straight 6 4.0L would be able to pull a boat about 3600pounds
also does anyone know if they make a Wrangler with an 8 in it?

NO! The "tail would wag the dog!" Own a Wrangler, and I believe it's only rated for 2000 lbs. Too short of a wheelbase to tow much without losing control. Wrangler only comes with a 4 or 6 cylinder. DON'T get the four, my six is barely adequate. BUT, I'm going to look for a small trailer to pull ONE ATV.

Yeah, they make them with an 8. The last time was in 1979!!!! That's excatly why I'll never get rid on my CJ-7.

Might add though, mine has plenty of power, but would never haul that much wieght due to again, short wheel base. It is good for small boats, atv trailers etc. But like the others, wouldn't suggest pulling over 2000, to 2500.

Later,
Scott

my dad had a cj-5 with a 350 in it.
They make engine swap kits. It is very common. Or just get a cj that is less expensive and has more power.

The peopel who posted before me are correct. The machine maybe able to pull the weight (with the 6) but the trailer will sway all over the place. Plus if you hit a windy road the trailer may well pull the jeep! If you want to pull something like that you will need a class 3 hitch (or above) and at LEAST a small pickup.
