Have you ridden the Rancher yet? When I ride in mud and snow i can get all four wheels spinning. It works especially well on uneven terrain where the wheel with traction gets the power. I can go places i never could before on my 300 4x4. So go out and actually RIDE one.

Mine works just fine. I've seen all 4 wheels pulling. There are times when 1 front wheel will not though. Just tap the front brake or twist the handlebars from wide to side to change the tire bite angle, and keep the power on..

At my dealer "who sells Yamahas and Honda". The service manager told me the front differential on the Ranchers and Rubicons were just another type of limited slip. He said the didnt work any better than the limited slip differentials on the Yamahas or the 450 Hondas. I havent rode a Rancer in the mud or anything so I cant really say. Im just saying what the service manager told me. I know they are very easy to steer for a 4x4 compared to other limited slip designs.

They work much better in the traction dept,I had sold my 450es to get the rubicon but the ruby's were late so I had a rancher for nine months and I really tested that new diff.I ride with 450's,400 foreman and a wolverine ,It is not a locker but it works so much better then the old type.

The Rancher differential does work a little better than the typical limited slip. Don't be fooled it doesn't work as well as Honda would have you believe. It does put some power to the other wheel just not as much as I would like.
