200X clutch- need help!!
#1
I recently bought an 85 ATC 200X, needing reassembly. Everything has been easy, but when I got to the RH side, the whole clutch setup makes no sense. Ive done this once before on an 85 250R, but how can the x work when the cable goes to the clutch side and pushes in instead of out?? I havent found a manual for it, so does anyone have a diagram of the right side of this motor?? Im assuming all the correct parts came with this engine but who knows??? Thanks!

The 200X has the pressure plate between the plate stack and the clutch basket where as the 250R has the pressure plate on the very outside of the clutch stack. That's why one pushes and one pulls. I prefer the old push method myself as it is a very simpler design but some people say it creates a heavier clutch pull.....which I assume is why most all the manufacturers have slowly steered away from it.
The only parts you should have between the cable connection is the shaft itself going into the case and the button it activates on the lifter plate of the clutch stack.
