i am looking for a good dune bike. i want an atx w/ the atc 250r motor but if they dont exist. then i will get the three wheeler. will the 250s climb sand mountain

 

the 85 and 86 atc motors will swap in the trx, the differences are in the cylinders

Will 86-87 TRX 250R motor also fit 85-86 ATC250R ?

so they dont have the same power

 

the 87 and up trx had a longer rod which gives it a little more torque and the short stroke(rod) revs faster, the motors are basically the same you wont notice the difference unless you have ridden both for a long period of time
