87 250x ignition troubleshooting

Help... I just reinstalled my rebuilt motor and I've got no spark.
Unfortunately, my shop manual is for a 300ex. Lacking a battery, the 250x electrical system is different enough that it's not much help... plus trying to measure voltage for the 1/2 second that the motor is turning while kicking it is problematic at best.
Does anyone have the resistance values for the stator, CDI, coil etc handy?
TIA

Ruling out the possiblity of a bad sparkplug (I take it you already tried that) there shouldnt be a "problem" with your electrical system.
If it had spark prior to removing the engine you simply have to retrace your steps and see where you left something unplugged or let something get corroded while it was sitting up and clean it up.
You don't have a component failure.

OK, stupid question. Does the reverse switch need to be connected for the engine to start? I've got a broken wire on the reverse switch. Since it's cold in my barn, I figured I'd just tape it up until spring and fix it later.
It has now occurred to me that perhaps the CDI needs to see a signal from that.
If not, I'll start running through all of the component tests when things warm up a little...

Well, I guess the reverse and/or neutral switch does need to be connected (at least the way this beast is wired). I'd left them unhooked because the wiring is in bad shape and I figured I'd deal with it when the weather was a little nicer.
I hooked them up and the engine fired on the 3rd kick.
Now I'm counting the days until spring!

Looks like you are asking about a Suzuki part in the Honda section of the Forum. All I can tell you is Honda use green for earth and black/yellow (usually) for the feed from the CDI to coil, so mark the coil green and black. Suzuki, however use black/white for earth and, on their modern stuff anyway, different sized spade connectors so you can only fit the Suzuki coil the right way round.
