Exclamation 2001 rubicon transmision noise.

Hi,! I hope some one has an answer for the problem I am having with my quad,
whe I shift in to drive, it sounds like there is a worn out gear in the transmision, the motor runs fine, but it only makes the noise in gear, it moves but it makes a grinding noise, in reverse it is less, I opened the engine complete, did not found any metal shavings or pieces of metal. the engine is back on the quad, installed a new mud cam, tested today and the noise still there, can anyone please help!!!!!!!!.

I wouldn't drive it and I would take it to someone who can check the oil pressure.

if memory serves me correct i beleve honda mechanic told the last person with this issue that it was something in the sub transmission- make sure that the engine is not above idle when you put in in gear.

The sub-transmission can slip if not adjusted right , but if it's making a ratcheting noise the problem is probably the hydrostatic unit ..

thanks for the info, I am going to check the oil pressure, and go from there,
the sound that makes is like when you strip an axle, or a gear, the trany seems to be fine, because i ran the bike on jack stands and I shifted all gears on esp mode, it moves but as soon as I grave the rear brak an put presure it starts to make the noise, i am thinking more of a worn gear. thanks again for the info.!!!!
