Just traded my Scrambler for a 400 ex. WOW!!

Well, there's basically two ways to check it. 1: Take the boot off the rear of the carb and look down inside to see if the throttle slide is all the way up at WOT (wide open throttle). The other way is to back the adjustment on the thumb throttle almost all the way out, then lightly hold the throttle at WOT. While holding it, screw the adjustment back in, and you'll be able to see the thumb lever move forward as you screw it in. Continue until you find the point where screwing in further doesn't move the throttle lever any further, and you've got it. Once you're done, the throttle should have about 1/4" of free play.

Don't listen to the Quadfather. The right rider can make a 400ES go many places. I ride with a 400EX. The Raptor doesn't have much more ground clearance if any.

Now just buy the jet kit and remove the air box or drill it... That really wakes them up. Don't waste your money on any CDI boxes. You can trim the silencer on the stock pipe or buy a slip on. The factory head pipes are well sized for stock displacement.
