Honda cranks and then you can drive around but if you stop and let idle it dies and I have to wait 15 to 30 minutes before I can crank it back up. The motor turns over but will not crank during this time. The carbs have been cleaned but it still happens. It is in a shop to be repaired now and the guy says it has to have some electrical parts and the price is 600.00 to repair. Does anybody have any suggestions????????
Thanks,
Cdi

Most likely an electrical problem as it sounds like something is over heating and then it shuts down. After it cools off, it starts.

I have seen this happen with older points type ignition systems where the condenser would overheat causing the points to not "fire" and ignition coils will do this when they get older.

With newer solid state ignition systems....like a CDI box.....they can do the same thing. In fact, heat is a big enemy for any solid state system, be it ignition or a computer.

CDI system still have a ignition coil. Thats how those things die, they heat up and quit, once they cool off they work again.
