Default help! 05 recon leaking oil through drain plug!

i have a 2005 honda recon and after changing the engine oil, it now leaks at the drain plug. i drained all the oil out and refilled it, and it still does it and it seems that the drain plug bolt hole is somewhat stripped, which is what is causing the problem i think. any ideas?

If its not totally stripped I would put this stuff around the drain plug. Gasket Sealants - Industrial Supply Group and see if that helps. Then there is the Heli coil insert option http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Gxnm8...eature=related

what about high temp RTV silicone sealant? also, do you think that a normal atv seller/maintainer would rethread it?

The thing about these stuff is its Resistant to gasoline and other solvents and good up to 400 degrees.
May hold alot better then silicon. Gasket Sealants - Industrial Supply Group

Don,t let the dealer talk you into buying a new crankcase.LOL

Is the crush washer still on the drain bolt, and if so what kind of condition is it in?

You could also use one of those rubber plugs that get fat when you tighten them up.. I stripped a drain plug way back in the day b4 I knew what I was doing and that rubber one I bought worked perfect never had a drop come out...

the sealing washer is mashed, but it actually skips threads, so yes i am 100% positive it needs new threads, and theres no way im getting a crankcase lol.

unit6666, what do you mean exactly?

umm they make these rubber replacement drain plugs they sell them at almost every parts store.. bring them your old bolt so you can get the right size.. you should replace the rubber plug every few oil changes but they work good..
