Question 1998 Honda 300ex help

Hello i am new hear and i need some help. I have a 1998 300ex i rejetted the carb to stock 122 and 35 and it runs awsome. Now trying to put it back together i put the air tube on the carb that gos to the air box and it boggs out and runs bad and the box is not even on the other end of the tube any ideas why it would do that i am stumped thanks

You mean the tube that goes into the box on one end and the frame on the other? Maybe there's an obstruction in the frame. Mouse nest?

but if it is not hookrd up to the box just the carb would that still matter

if it is not hooked up to the box just the carb would it matter is what i ment sorry

Yes, it could make a difference. Put the lid on and see what happens.
