Hello new here, I am working on an older honda 70 atv the problem im having is that when the spark plug wire is pushed all the way onto the plug the engine wont start. If i pull the wire off and hold it close to the end of the plug the engine fires right up. When i give it the gas it starts to backfire and sputter. Can this be a bad ground wire to the coil or maybe a bad plug? any help would be great.

if you have enough wire, cut off like a quarter inch from the plug wire. I know it doesnt make sense because the cap SCREW on but I' ve seen it tons of times and it takes 2 seconds either that or your cap is dead. the are supposed to have some resistance, i forget how much, and they have been known to simply not work at all. steal a wire off yer truck for diagnostic purposes until you can get parts
