Rubicon land:That grinding noise you are hearing is one of the check valves making that noise,There is one in front case and one near oil pump there has been some rubicons with this problem, all the the dealer has to do is put a oil presure gauge on to see if it is low at slower rpm's.It will not hurt anything to run it like that so just bring it in when it is convenient for you.Good luck!!!!!!!

JRM- I hear this guy on the radio fighting for consumer rights and people that have been wronged or ripped off he may be able to help you. His web site is www.trouble shooter.com and the phone number is 1-866-966-4357. You might give this a try.

I personally have had nothing short of excellent service from Honda. Shortly after purchasing my '99 400Ex I had a problem with my rear hub. My dealer wouldn't do anything for me so I called Honda direct. My dealer supplied me with a phone number of Honda in my area. Honda made my dealer warranty my bike and threw in some cool graphics too! I would try calling again or call a different dealer and see if they will suply the local rep's phone number.

Thanks for all the help and ideas, My dealer is willing to fix whats broke (the frame,A-Arm and front wheel) but nothing more, kinda a sorry thats what the warrenty is for reaction. And when I ask for hondas number they would not give me it. I will call Honda tommarow and demand to meet the service rep for this area and see what they say about a replacement quad or a 2 year warrenty at the min.
thanks, joe

That really, REALLY!, stinks. If it's any consolation to you, I am going to buy a quad this weekend and I had narrowed down my choices to two brands. You just helped me narrow it down to one. I'm getting the Bombardier Traxter. Keep up the the good fight. If I was the CEO of a quad manufacturer I would be reading this forum every day. I would encourage you to keep this going. I would not be surprised if someone from Honda does eventually take notice and takes this seriously. Good luck.

Well, honda just stamped the frame, sent it on its way and its written down to be repaired next tuesday threw friday ( 8-14-01 to the 17th ) I just picked it up and brought it home for a few days to wash it up and keep the kids from climbing all over it at the dealer. Hope all goes well, just to bad one and a half months of its warrenty went by waiting for repair;(

I found out what my grinding was.... It was the honda place not knowing what they were doing when they rebuilt my sub trans due to the (stuck it 5th gear) problem i had 2 months ago.... The problem was that they left out a spacer and that caused the gears to slip. Tho they did not tell me that they left out a part I found out when i looked at the parts list they had ordered for my rubi. because of that spacer they now haft to replace some of the gears that had amost been grinded down by the other gears...they had a order for some gaskets, 4 sub trans gears and 1 spacer. maybe this time thell put it together right..........
Rubi was took in for grinding on 7-23-01
parts should be in by 8-14-01
and they "said" it would be ready by 8-17-01

but i dought it.

tuff luck on the quad man.... i haven't had any problems with mine. also i bought mine from metro power sports in canton michigan. I live in ohio but they are one of the biggest honda dealers in the U.S. the only problems we have had is them not submitting the warranty papers to honda. also we had problems with them and the taxes being paid on it. they were supposed to pay them but some how that got screwed up and we couldn't get our title transfered to ohio title and we couldn't get a state regestration sticker till it was ohio title.... so our only problems were on paper....
