Default 2001 Rubicon Transmission

I have a 2001 Rubicon I was riding and spun a half doughnut then I heard a slight grinding noise so I hit the brakes. Once I stopped it wouldnt move in D so I put it in Low it moved 2-3 foot then stopped. Now it wont move at all just acts like it wants to go but sounds like the transmission is locked up. It wont even rev up in neutral. Is it the hondamatic?? or not. I brought up the Codes it gave me code 10.

Welcome to the forum!

Code 10 means "ECM fail-safe relay circuit"....

Most likely a bad ECM...

That is what the Honda Service manual states for a Code 10.

It could also be a "temporary failure" of the ECM. In that case, reset the ECM to clear the code and go from there. From what I read in my Honda Service manual, if you reset it and the code comes back, it indicates a bad ECM.

There are tests to perform at the connector to see if there is proper voltage and all as well.

And the ECM controls the Hondamatic transmission. The transmission has a swash plate with pistons that control oil flow through the transmission and the shift motor, through the ECM, controls the position of that swash plate to determine what ever gear position is selected.

I threw code 10 out in the sand dunes when floored trying to keep up with friends on sport quads- pulled the negitive batt cable off with the ignition turned on (to drain the ecu) for 10 minutes. threw it all back together and we are good to go, no problems since and that was back in 2003. Mine was in a major limp mode as well, wouldnt even rev up, just misfired like crazy. I think mine was caused by a overpressure of the hydro side of the swash plate when i was floored up steep stuff, then engine brakeing like crazy on the downhill side of rzr back's
