Default '06 350 Rancher 4trax won't start

HELP!!

My son was riding it in the woods, got it hung on alog, shut it off, took the key out, we pulled it off the log, now it won't start. Never had any troble with it before. Easy start and runs strong.

Where do I begin?

I understand basic mechanics and the whole fuel, air, spark thing, but these things are foreign to me. I got the side skins off and can't find anything obvious. Found what I believe to be the electronics under the right rear fender. Can't find any damages to anything any where.

Oh, yeah, I have a skid plate under it for a plow attachment. That is what was on the log. And by the way, the log was mostly rotten.

Any advice would be appreciated with pointers on where to find the check points. I need to mow and don't have time to run down the maintenance manual.

Thanks folks!

Oh yeah, one more thing, it cranks, just won't fire and doesn't even try (no spit or sputter).

Here is where I would start:
#1 Check the tank for fuel........as silly as it sounds........
#2 Make sure the fuel switch is on. (if it has one)
#3 Pull the plug and ground it and see if you get spark.

Start out with these and see what you get.

Thanks Dr turbo.

I hope to get some quality time in the garage to check the basics tonight. Are these things fuel injected? I read some comments about some models being injected?????

I did check the fuel, there is plenty in the tank. Moved the shut off valve through all positions.

Also I would check the left handlebar kill switch make sure in twisting and turning the handlebar trying to push that the switch didn,t get pushed to stop. should be in the center of marking. Just an guess first. Also if it was off while you have been trying to crank it you have an fouled plug now.Good Luck Please get back with us.

WOW....what a newbie....neophite......rookie.....roodiot! (rookie idiot)

I never use the kill switch, not even sure why it was put there with a key ignition. My son or I must have bumped it to off. That was the problem all along.

Poppa Hogg, you are the man!

I work in computers and have done phone support and we ALWAYS start with the basics....is it plugged in, did you turn it on....

I feel like SUCH an idiot. I would have had this thing apart on the floor trying to figure out why it wouldn't kick over before I would have thought to look at the kill switch!

Many ,many thanks!
