Default Lowering front of 400ex, need advice

Ok, so I've been a-arm shopping, and now I have another problem.

I want to lower the front by about 3.5" for ice racing, so I was going to just use some 300ex shocks or something because they are shorter, therefor reducing the static height of the front.

I also have the option of purchasing a-arms designed for long travel shocks, and use my standard 400ex shocks, therefor also reducing ride height.

The problem with all this is that the quad will sit lower than it was designed to do, and i've been told it might pre-maturely wear the ball joints.

The a-arms from full flight use heim joints all around, not a ball joint, so perhaps this would be the better choice for lowering the quad.

Thanks,

Any suggestions? There must be someone here how lowered the front end of their 400ex.

Thanks,

Thanks. I've emailed these guys as well to ask them, but no reply. Only works with OEM a-arms, I'm going to go aftermarket. Plus, this will still lower the ATV and the ball joints are not designed to permanently run at this angle. I'm betting with long term use, the ball joints will wear out very fast.

From the info I can gather, the heim joints vs ball joints at the spindle will be a better choice. Believe it or not, the cheaper option (full flight a-arms with 300ex shocks for example) will be the better one for my situation this time from the info I can gather unless someone else can provide other info.

seems to me like longer a-arms would be better for you if you are trying to get your quad lower. the longer a-arms will mount your shocks out further, giving you less height in the front :/

I'm going with longer a-arms, but this would only be the case if the a-arms were designed for long travel shocks...most are made for oem shocks meaning that there will be no decrease in ride height. With the a-arms designed for long travel shocks, using oem shorter shocks would work, but the manufacturers of the a-arms will not warranty or recommend this because of the added stress put on the ball joints running at the angle they were not designed to be static at. This is why the full flights with the heim joint instead of the typical ball joint may actually be beneficial.
Thanks,
