Default What could cause recon 250 not to shift?

Hey guys, my friend has a little 250, and lately it's not been wanting to shift. Most of the time it hangs from neutral to first, but sometimes it does it when you are riding. It has the electronic shift option. What do you guys think could cause this? Normally shaking gets it to shift into gear, so i'm thinking it's possibly a bad connection?

I have a recon 250 electric shift and it would not shift...first problem was a nut came loose in the shifter drum....next time it was the angle sensor..most likely if it is still shifting somewhat it is probably the angle sensor if it is electric shift.

Well, I know that he used to have probs with the angle sensor, but he semi-recently got that fixed, and as far as I know it still doesn't like to shift from time to time.

How is the actual shifting accomplished? Is it magnetic or something?

not sure about the actual shifting but I was told by my local honda shop that the es models will always give you trouble I've replaced the angle sensor 3 times in the last yr.

I see sooo many threads about ES shifting problems that I will never buy one. It's manual for me. I am looking for a used Recon with manual shift. There seem to be more used ES models for sale than manual. Hmmmm.

That sucks. budedm your really not missing anything though, I prefer full manual over the ES, it's really hard to shift smoothly with the ES. You always either jerk the quad forward, or backward.

Adjust your clutch... Not unusual to have to rock the quad a bit to get it to pop into gear when it's not moving.
