That aluminum is very weak. My short bolt stripped so the long one holds the cover on and it doesn't leak. I don't think there is any heli-coil that small. I will replace the side cover one day and be more careful next time. Mine felt soft from the dealer....

We had an oil drain plog strip...................finally built up the aluminum with weld and then re-drilled and tapped. Then flush the case several times. You can use the same oil, just be sure to filter it each time. Through a rag works. Then fresh oil. Have also heard of people using an epoxy and carefully building up the old threads and then tapping it. Remember............the filter does not have to be very tight to seal. Good luck

one of my buddies just got his 440 back and he stripped the long bolt out. I know its not the professional way to fix it but we went to the local hardware store and got a 1/4 x 20 standard bolt and it screwed right in making its own threads as it went and so far without and leakin i think we have rode it enough to change the oil three times
