I recently looked at a 1995 Honda 300 4x4 that had a highlifter kit added. What does it do and why put one on? I don't know anything about them and am not sure I am interested in buying a used atv that has one but would like your feedback. I am looking for a quality atv that will provide years of good service and feel like certain aftermarket modifications may reduce longevity and dependability. This kit seems to involve a cam and polishing of the head, etc. Suspension work?

Thanks for your feedback.

One more thing, the fella said in all, it cost $1500 for the modifications. Would this include tires like Superswampers or Vampires? What would you expect for $1500-1800?

I have a 99' 300 4x4 and it is a great quad, except maybe for the ride. I have seen the many ads and even read a report on different high lifter mods, but I don't have an answer for you. However, I will be watching your posting for answers. To me, the highlifter generally involves a suspension lift to accomodate larger tires. It would change the driveline angles and this might prematurely wear driveline components.
You could also contact Highlifter and get their opinion, although it would be biased. Good luck.

More than likely he purchased a "Bad to Bone" kit. Go to highlifter.com to check out the kit.
